All it took was one article to start a blog, a cloud of knowledge toward the issues of feminism. Although our final project doesn’t fully reflect our proposal, this project has a taken a life of its own incorporating a wide range of sources such as poems, videos, peer-reviewed scholarly journals, articles from popular websites, and art of many mediums. Moreover, the visual aspect of our project truly embodies the power feminism brings to women. Despite that women have made progress throughout history, especially in the United States regarding suffrage, gender inequality is still a prominent issue and is a global concern. Our blog was created for the purpose of informing others about the violence and hatred that is geared towards women worldwide. With our efforts, we hope that our English 145 class, as well as our online followers, will be more knowledgeable and aware of gender inequality and the movement of feminism.
My drawing illustrates my belief that we as women need to speak and act for a gender equal society. For example, the husband does not overpower the wife in a family who then holds the role of tending to the children. The husband and wife have equal stance and responsibility in the family. This is a representation of my family, a family where both my mom and dad have great power in the family that they equally share. We need to speak for our rights. We need to fight for our rights. If we don’t speak for ourselves, who will? I believe in feminism.
